Take care of your Calzuro footwear… and they will take good care of you!
As with everything, you should treat your footwear well. This will guarantee them a longer life: you will be able to use them for a longer time and have a return of investment!
Above all, it is important for your safety and wellbeing: a non-intact shoe can lead to incorrect posture and consequently to backache and swollen legs; and can cause “accidents”: falls, slips, sprains, etc… both in the working environment, where safety requirements are mandatory, and in the daily and domestic use.
Here are some tips to give your Calzuro clogs and sabot the best care possible, little precautions to make them last years (and it is not a figure of speech!).

CLASSIC
Our first product, designed more than 35 years ago and still our crown jewel, that literally revolutionised the professional footwear world in hospital environment, and not only.
These clogs are made of a thermo-tecno, latex-free polymer compound. CE certified, heel strap on demand, certified slip resistant sole, energy absorption of seat region and antistatic.
After the main technical specifications, here are some hints for cleaning the clogs:

Daily cleaning – to freshen up the clogs and remove light dirt
Wash the clogs with hot water and neutral soap, using a rug or a soft-bristled brush.
Deep cleaning – to remove the most persistent dirt and stains
Wash the clogs in the washing machine, up to max 90°C / 194°F, with neutral detergent (i.e. normal laundry detergent). Do not use aggressive substances that could damage the materials (such as methyl ethyl ketone, thinners, petrol oil or any other type of chemical agent for cleaning).
Spring-cleaning – when not even 90°C / 194°F of the washing machine are enough
For some environments, such as hospitals, where fluids of various kind are commonplace and a sterile environment is essential, this is how to clean the Classic clogs:
Sterilise the clogs in an autoclave up to 134°C / 273°F (the heel straps too are autoclavable at the same temperature).
Or sterilise cold using products with a specific disinfectant action (also soaking).

You can use the same cleaning methods for these other models:
FANCYFLUOBUDDY (in these case autoclavable up to 121°C / 250°F).

LIGHTPRO SAFETYPRO SPAQUA
The peculiarity of these collections lies in their material, an innovative and ultralight plastic compound (EVA) that makes the clogs soft, comfortable and, especially, ultralight (the average weight of a Light clog is around 120 gr).
Every model has specific characteristics according to its use (for instance the work sabot Pro Safety has metal-free safety toecaps); but the instructions for cleaning are the same for all these collections.
How to guarantee a long and clean life to these clogs? Read below to find out.

Daily cleaning – to freshen up the clogs and remove light dirt
Wash the clogs with hot water and neutral soap, using a rug or a soft-bristled brush.
Deep cleaning – to remove the most persistent dirt and stains
Wash the clogs in the washing machine, up to max 50°C / 122°F, with neutral detergent (i.e. normal laundry detergent). Do not use aggressive substances that could damage the materials (such as methyl ethyl ketone, thinners, petrol oil or any other type of chemical agent for cleaning).

As for the drying, every model can be left to dry in a ventilated place at room temperature, as long as they are away from heat sources and not exposed to direct sunlight (that can jeopardise their characteristic and colours.

Proper maintenance in addition to a correct use will enable you to walk on your Calzuro for a long long time: legend has it that Silvia’s (who works in our offices) mother has been wearing her pair of black Classic clogs for more than 20 years, working on them as a cook for years and then using them at home. Only after her daughter gave her a new blue metal pair, she decided to retire the black ones after years of loyal service (anyway she has not yet through them away…).

So, treat your Calzuro clogs with care, they will pay you back!!!
